The Houston Foodbank organized the Hunger Day Summit, together with Texas A&M, on November 7th 2019. Three of our junior students, Joelly Cortez, Ashley Truong and Andrea Martinez had the opportunity to showcase how they plan to contribute or solve underlying issues in the Houston area.

Joelly Cortes got 2nd place for her solution to implement healthier food in the SNAP program, screening of all students for Diabetes and promote more exercise to battle obesity in our community.
Ashley Truong got 3rd place for her solution to broaden the accessibility to clean drinking water after floods using the Life Straw water filter.
Andrea Martinez showcased how she experiences that the diversity at our Harmony Schools diminishes discrimination issues among students.

Congratulations to our students for doing an amazing job at the Hunger Day Summit!
